Karla Labrador’s practice explores transformation, imagination, and the relationship between figures and the landscapes they inhabit. Through painting and drawing, she creates soft, surreal environments where plants, bodies, animals, and natural forms can gradually shift into one another.

Her work comes from a fascination with metamorphosis and the quiet possibility that things are never quite as fixed as they first appear. A landscape might contain a figure; a figure might become part of its surroundings; familiar forms can slowly reveal themselves as something else. Rather than representing a specific place, Labrador creates imagined landscapes that exist somewhere between memory, observation, and invention.

There is a sense of both order and unpredictability within these worlds. Forms grow alongside one another, overlap and intertwine, creating environments that feel alive and constantly changing.
